With 20 years of professional experience, Genevieve McManus takes pride in helping her clients find workable solutions to feel better as quickly as possible. Genevieve is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist known by her clients for being positive, patient, and understanding. Using a direct approach, Genevieve works collaboratively with clients and frequently uses humor as a lighter approach to therapy--she is seen this work especially well with children and teens. Regardless of the challenges her clients are facing, she has a knack for instilling positive beliefs in them. Genevieve believes the greatest things a therapist can offer a client in therapy are unconditional support, honesty and helpful feedback. Genevieve incorporates a variety of therapies for decreasing depression and anxiety, improving coping skills, and enhancing overall health. These therapies have strong research-support and are evidenced-based. Some examples include Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness and Nutritional Wellness.
Education & Experience
Genevieve received her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Utah Graduate School of Social Work, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania. In addition to her psychology credentials, Genevieve obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law, and assisted clients with obtaining legal, medical, and educational resources. Genevieve’s passions and professional pursuits have always been about service to others, justice, and physical and mental wellness.
Genevieve has 10 years of experience as a Psychotherapist in a variety of settings including a geriatric hospital, an adult corrections facility and a school. For the past 3 years, she has worked as a Therapist at California Prime Recovery Services in an addictions and mental health program. Although she enjoys working with all populations, her passion lies in working with children, teens, and young adults. Genevieve served as a Clinical Director in residential and crisis programs for teens at the Los Angeles Youth Network. She loves helping children and teens process and heal from substance abuse, eating disorders, and behavioral challenges in order to thrive at their highest potential. Genevieve's diverse background and experience has made her a strong therapist and personal advocate. She is highly invested in ensuring her clients receive comprehensive and effective treatment.
