I am a licensed counseling psychologist, educator, consultant and trainer with a passion for helping others achieve personal empowerment, healthy relationships, and wellness of mind, body and spirit. My areas of specialty include relationship issues, grief and loss, healing from trauma, family and/or sexual violence, stalking, challenges relating to gender identity or sexual orientation, and health concerns. I enjoy facilitating group counseling, as well as individual, couples and family psychotherapy.
Together, using a holistic, integrative, and trauma-informed approach, I gently assist my clients to identify the triggers that produce anxiety and/or depression in their daily life, prioritize their existing strengths, and set specific goals for achieving their fullest potential. My approach is founded on compassion, empathy, and creating a safe space for sharing experiences and working thorough challenges. How that process takes shape often varies, depending on each client’s unique needs, values and preferences.
I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and both my M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland, College Park. I completed an externship at George Washington University Counseling Center and my pre-doctoral Internship at UC Irvine Counseling Center. In addition to my private psychotherapy practice, I serve as the Director of the University of California Irvine’s CARE office and Chair the UC Irvine Women's Empowerment Initiative as well as the Board of Directors for the Violence Prevention Coalition of Orange County. I frequently speak at national conferences, and provide training for law enforcement, community agencies, and college students and faculty.
I accept Medicare and will submit claims as an out-of-network provider for many other insurance plans. New clients are welcomed.
