My approach is based on integrative psychiatry, which uses medications, therapy and complementary medicine to treat the whole person, not only the symptoms. I address the combined impact of sleep, lifestyle, relationships, nutrition and chronic medical conditions on wellbeing, and use cutting edge tools like genetic testing to guide personalized treatment with medication and nutritional supplements.
I consider each patient’s cultural background in my assessments and I can provide treatment in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian. My goal is to help my patients create lasting changes and build vitality, resilience, and purpose in life.
Education & Experience
Originally from Brazil, I moved to the US 20 years ago to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling at NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I maintained a successful therapy practice for several years before obtaining my medical degree and completing my psychiatry residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. My experience as a therapist gives me a deeper understanding of my patients’ struggles, allowing me to better address the root of their issues rather than superficially treat symptoms.
I am licensed to practice telehealth statewide and can see you by video call from the safety and comfort of your home. I also retain offices in Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Barbara for occasional in-person sessions. Please call me to briefly discuss your concerns and goals for treatment.
