Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Debbie Blalock is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience in the mental health field. Debbie understands that life can be challenging, and she works to assist clients in finding new insights and solutions, while providing opportunities to discover new pathways to reach their personal goals. Debbie provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore feelings, past trauma, difficult childhoods, previously unexplored abuse, and PTSD. She believes that our connection to and relationship with other people plays a large role in our sense of self and well-being. She uses an attachment-based approach along with a variety of evidence-based therapy practices including CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to meet each client’s individual needs.
Debbie has a diverse background working with a wide range of clients from at-risk children and family preservation to those in hospice experiencing end of life transitions. Debbie also completed training in domestic violence, for both the victim and perpetrator, and she understands how DV can impact a family. Debbie has also worked in the drug and alcohol abuse field, assisting clients to rebuild their lives while understanding that substance abuse and addiction is a long-term recovery process.
Education & Experience
Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies, while working in a domestic violence shelter to assist women in building the lives they aspired to lead. She then returned to complete graduate school at California State University, Long Beach, where she received a Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in Older Adults. During that time, she assisted clients and their families during difficult end of life experiences. She has also worked as a school based social worker at an elementary school helping with family preservation. Debbie is currently completing a play therapy certification from UCSD and recently completed training with PRATI for Ketamine Assisted Therapy, to assist clients with treatment resistant depression and anxiety.
