Iris Black, LMFT

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Iris Black is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience. Iris understands that each client faces a unique set of challenges based on their personal history and experience. Working together, she empowers her clients to move forward and heal by identifying their personal strengths and creating attainable and meaningful treatment goals.
Believing that the most important component of the healing process is self-compassion, Iris helps her patients find value in themselves, which ultimately empowers them to reach their goals. She uses evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Strength-Based Therapy along with sprinkles of laughter and non-judgmental support. She works with patients struggling with anxiety, depression, codependence, self-esteem, relationship stress, postpartum depression, and life transitions.

Education & Experience

Iris holds a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling from the University of La Verne, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology/Psychobiology from La Sierra University. Throughout her education, she studied the effect that media has on body image and self-esteem issues in young adults and has incorporated that knowledge into her practice in helping patients find a healthy level of self-acceptance.
Iris has also helped countless women process and cope with postpartum depression, anxiety, and body dysmorphia by providing psychoeducation and compassion to struggling mothers in groups she facilitated. She has worked in schools, foster care, non-profit community mental health, and hospital settings. At Catholic Charities, she assisted in developing the agency's Head Start Program for the Riverside County Department of Education. She is certified in supervising marriage and family therapists and has helped many other therapists in their path to licensure.
As a bilingual therapist, Iris provides therapy services in both English and Spanish.
