Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Matthew Yee is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who is passionate about helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and confidence when facing life’s complexities. Through this work, he supports individuals with a wide range of mental health needs and brings a steady, compassionate presence to his patients at all stages of their healing journey. His goal is to help patients move beyond symptom management toward true emotional resilience. By identifying and reframing maladaptive patterns, he assists clients in developing a more integrated sense of self and the practical tools necessary for long-term psychological stability.

Matthew believes that therapy should be both supportive and practical — a space where patients feel understood while building tangible skills for lasting change. He uses a collaborative and culturally responsive approach grounded in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Matthew views therapy with adults and older adults as an exploration of wisdom and resilience, honoring the rich life experiences of his clients while helping them address longstanding patterns that no longer serve their best interest. In his work with teens and young adults, Matthew prioritizes building a foundation of trust and authentic connection. He creates an environment where young patients feel comfortable discussing identity and social dynamics while developing the emotional intelligence needed to thrive.

As a Bay Area native, Matthew is deeply committed to serving his community and understands the unique cultural and societal pressures that can impact mental health. He strives to create an affirming environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and move toward meaningful growth.
