Michael Linden, Ph.D.

Licensed Psychologist | Nationally Certified Senior Fellow in Biofeedback & Neurofeedback

For more than 40 years, Dr. Michael Linden has helped children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families overcome challenges related to ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, concussion recovery, and learning differences. He combines extensive clinical experience with one of the nation's most accomplished backgrounds in neurofeedback and brain-based assessment to provide personalized treatment that helps patients thrive at home, at school, at work, and in their relationships.

While Dr. Linden is internationally recognized for his expertise in neurofeedback, he also provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. Many patients benefit from a combination of evidence-based therapy and neurofeedback, while others receive psychotherapy alone. His approach is practical, collaborative, and tailored to each person's goals.

Dr. Linden is one of the pioneers of modern neurofeedback. He founded Attention Learning Centers in Orange County and has been a leader in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, and concussion-related symptoms since 1982. He is a licensed psychologist and a Nationally Certified Senior Fellow in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA).

Dr. Linden has a special interest in helping couples and families navigate the unique challenges that ADHD and autism can create in relationships. Since 1993, he has volunteered his time leading support groups for adults, parents, and families affected by ADHD and Asperger's syndrome at Saddleback Church.

As both a parent and grandparent, Dr. Linden understands that every family faces unique challenges. He is passionate about helping patients build healthier relationships, improve daily functioning, and reach their full potential through compassionate, evidence-based care.

Education & Experience

Dr. Linden’s educational background includes undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Michigan and Psychology at the University of Miami, where he graduated with honors. He earned both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego and completed postdoctoral fellowship training in Neuropsychology and Child Development at the University of California, Irvine.

He participated in the pioneering studies of the EEG Theta/Beta ratio in ADHD and published one of the first controlled studies demonstrating the effectiveness of neurofeedback for ADHD. His later research helped identify brainwave patterns associated with autism spectrum disorders and contributed to advances in QEEG-guided neurofeedback.

Dr. Linden has authored numerous scientific publications, co-edited the book Applications of Biofeedback and Neurofeedback in Sport Psychology, and has presented his work throughout the United States and internationally. His research has been featured by major media outlets including NBC, ABC, PBS, CBS, and the Los Angeles Times.
