Sandra Boodman, LCSW

Clinical Social worker

Sandra Boodman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 12 years of experience helping clients work through and heal from with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic illness, substance use, harm reduction, women’s health, sexual & reproductive health, the LGBTQIA+ community and gender-affirming care. During her many years in community mental health and medical settings, Sandra gained specific expertise in trauma work, sexual and gender identity, and the use of a social justice framework. She works closely with clients to create a collaborative, patient-lead treatment plan.

Sandra believes that cultivating a positive relationship is central to providing good clinical care. She draws strongly from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and uses a strengths-based approach of acceptance and empathy as she works together with her clients to understand how influences such as life stage, level of social support, and physical health impact overall wellbeing.

Education & Experience

Sandra obtained her Master’s Degree from Cal State University, Long Beach with an emphasis on Children, Youth and Family and her Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Studies from UCLA. She has sat on both Orange County and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Committees focused on advancing community healthcare, and recently completed a Community Health Advocate Management Program through UCLA.

Sandra started her professional career working as a Sexual Assault Advocate and Counselor and has extensive experience treating complex trauma and early childhood trauma. She has worked in a health advocacy role for over 8 years, advocating for equity in health care and understanding the social determinates of health through a social justice lens. Her past roles have shown the critical importance of integrated, whole-person care to improve overall health and wellness.

Sandra currently welcomes new clients. She works with adolescents (ages 12+), adults, and couples, and provides secure telehealth as well as in-person therapy.
