Dr. Tameeshah Cival is passionate about creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for her patients to feel valued and respected for their unique experiences and circumstances. She understands that every individual has unique needs and she tailors her therapeutic approach to match those needs. She provides personalized care designed to help her patients achieve their individual goals and lead more fulfilling lives. Her approach is relationship-driven and person-centered, with the understanding that patients are the experts in their own lives and values.
Dr. Cival works with individuals of all ages and populations including couples, military members, veterans, and first responders. Her areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, pelvic pain (sexual pain), daily stressors, grief/loss, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She employs a variety of integrative therapies such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Dr. Cival offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help patients heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.
Education & Experience
Dr. Cival earned her doctoral degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, California. She also holds a master's degree in Psychology with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis from Purdue Global University. Her pre-doctoral internships included rotations at the Wright Institute and Helping Hearts of California.
In addition to her experience in private practice, Dr. Cival worked within the Orange County Correctional Health Services, providing psychotherapeutic interventions, testing and assessments to incarcerated individuals. She also has extensive experience as a Qualified Autism Services Practitioner Supervisor, having served as a Case Supervisor for various organizations supporting clients with autism.
