Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Katie Devlin is a licensed psychologist who approaches psychotherapy as a collaborative, respectful partnership where she works to help her patients build a life that feels more meaningful, balanced, and authentic. Drawing from evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and several trauma-focused models, she tailors treatment to each individual’s specific goals, strengths, and cultural context. Her style is warm, direct, and validating—she aims to create a space where all feel deeply heard while also gently challenged to try new ways of coping and relating to self and others.
For clients navigating intense emotions, relationship difficulties, or patterns that feel “stuck,” Dr. Devlin integrates DBT and CBT skills to support both stability and growth. DBT offers practical tools for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and more effective communication, which she weaves into sessions in concrete, usable ways to integrate into daily life. Over time, sessions focus not only on reducing suffering, but on increasing joy, purpose, and a sense of agency in your choices and relationships. Dr. Devlin also incorporates ACT approaches, helping patients clarify their values and take small, meaningful steps toward the life they want, even in the presence of pain, challenges, or uncertainty.
Dr. Devlin’s background includes extensive training and certification in evidence-based treatments for trauma, family conflict, and parent–child relationships, and she brings this experience to work with both adults and families. She is trained in trauma-focused approaches, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma (ITCT), which allows her to address the impact of early neglect, chronic stress, and complex family dynamics. Whether focusing on individual healing, improving family communication, or strengthening relationships, Dr. Devlin keeps both emotional safety and concrete change at the center of her work.
As a psychologist, she sees therapy as an opportunity not only to reduce symptoms, but to reclaim hope, resilience, and connection. Dr. Devlin believes that people do the best they can with the skills and support they have, and that with the right guidance and tools, real change is possible at any stage of life. Her goal is for each patient to leave therapy with a clearer sense of who they are, what they care about, and how to move forward—with practical strategies they can continue to use long after therapy has ended.
Education & Experience
Dr. Devlin obtained a master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Arizona. She completed an APA Accredited Doctoral Internship at the Kaiser LA Medical Center and stayed there for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychological Testing. She completed a second Fellowship at CHOC Hospital in Pediatric Psychology. She has since provided clinical services, created and run multiple training programs, and supervised the development of many emerging psychologists.
For three decades, Dr. Devlin has practiced in medical centers, pediatric settings, community mental health, and specialized DBT settings which has given her a deep understanding of how physical health, stress, and mental health interact across the lifespan. She has worked closely with physicians and allied health professionals, and values integrating psychological care with overall healthcare. Her long-standing involvement in training and supervising over 100 clinicians and doctoral interns reflects her commitment to high standards, ethics, and staying abreast of the current research.
